Months after the famous FTC deadline for disclosure on affiliate web sites, the online money making scammers are back at it, this time more brazen than ever. Now we have DailyNews7.com pushing something called the Home Income System, where for only $2.97 you too can become part of the American dream and work from home in your spare time “posting links online”.

Interesting use of the geo-targeting there, just saying they are from your state rather than drilling all the way down to the town where your internet service provider is located.

Since it’s almost certain they are breaking the law in the US, these guys seem to have thrown all caution to the wind and just gone for it. The FTC has clearly set forth the rules for online disclosure and factual proof of earnings potential the AVERAGE user would have with this system, as well as disclosure of all costs associated with the system.

DailyNews7.com does none of these things. No where does it say it’s an advertisement. It has a quote from Larry King that he most certainly never made about the “Home Income System”. It has a Photoshopped cover of Newsweek as well. It even has a fake ad for Dish Network that brings you to the offer page for the Home Income Kit if you click on it.

Our old friend Kevin Hoeffer’s sister Mary is apparently been dragged into it too, with a random photo of a check for $5000 attributed to her.

Why do we think this is a scam in our opinion? Besides the unsubstantiated income claims that are against the latest FTC rules, no where on the DailyNews7 sides does it say anything about the true cost of the “Home Income System”.

All it says is “First you will need to apply for a work from home kit. There is a small charge of $2.97 for shipping and handling, Judy explained that “this charge is made to cover shipping costs but also to separate the people that are serious about working from home.”

Which is complete bunk. The real reason is in the hopes you won’t notice the fine print. What is the fine print? Click on through any of the links and you land on internetprofitsuccesssystem.com, where you can fill out your name and address and phone number (which I would NOT suggest doing) and read the small text to find:

By placing my order I agree to the Terms of Offer, which explain this order includes the above for just $2.97 shipping and handling. If you enjoy your trial, just pay a monthly membership fee of $79.86. You may cancel anytime by calling: (877) 834-4449.

Yeah, that’s right, they are going to whack your credit card for $79.86. There is no checkbox or opt-in for this, which is also against the FTC rules.

Click on the actual Terms and Conditions link and you find this:

which is that you, the buyer, are not entitled to a refund that may or may not have been charged to you for delivery of said product, or services, or subscription. Furthermore, any free trials that may or may not be offered with this product are only free during the said allotted time of the free trial period, the free trial period is 3-days starting on the date signed up. If you have not cancelled the free bonus within the free trial period (if offered on product purchasing), you are agreeing to purchase the bonus material and/or service at a monthly reoccurring cost of up to $79.86 (seventy nine dollars and eighty six cents USD. This can be cancelled by contacting BlogMaster Profits customer service at (877) 834-4449 and stating your desire to cancel said bonus material. However, in order to not be charged any future reoccurring cost, please give ample time (2 business days) to be cancelled out of any reoccurring billing system before the next scheduled charge to your account (this does not apply during any trial period). Not canceling trial programs constitutes authorization, by you, the buyer, for any charges (as outlined) for the associated bonus service until your request to cancel has been received by our customer service staff. By not canceling the bonus program during the trial period or prior to two days before a scheduled billing cycle, you agree that any reoccurring charges billed to you will be non-refundable. You also agree that by purchasing this product, you will be given access to digital material outlined in the members area. No physical product will be sent to your home or business address.

That’s right, no refunds. And you have to cancel your three day trial within two days to be eligible to stop the billing.

Continue on through the site and terms and you will find NOTHING about the company’s physical address or email, just a phone number that was closed when we attempted to call it.

Now we haven’t read any specific complaints about internetprofitsuccesssystem.com, but it sure as hell looks like all the other Internet money scams out there that trick you into coughing up your credit card thinking you are only paying shipping and handling.

How To Cancel The Home Income Kit?

Well, they do provide a phone number you can call. HOWEVER, a number of people have suggested that calling their number is not the right thing to do.

If you call to cancel, they now have a record of you contacting them and if you later try to dispute the charge with your credit card company, they can show the record of your call to your credit card company as proof of the transaction. Only go this route if you can’t afford to cancel the card in question or if it is a debit card which is much harder to dispute. You’ve been internet mugged here, don’t take it lying down. It is our opinion based on the FTC guidelines that these people are breaking the law, plain and simple. You wouldn’t call a mugger to ask for your money back, you would go to the authorities.

Here is what we recommend:

Don’t feel bad! Seems like hundreds if not thousands of people have been taken in by these sort of “negative option” offers that trick you by not clearly disclosing you are signing up for monthly charges. You were tricked, it happens to the best of us.

Call/write your credit card company, dispute the charges and report the card stolen. Since this site does not meet the FTC requirements for clear disclosure for the charges you received, consider your card stolen. This will make sure they can’t charge you any more and that they can’t sell your credit card number to anyone else. If they tricked you once already, what makes you think they won’t try to squeeze every penny out of you they can?

Start ID theft monitoring right away! Click here to sign up for Experian Protect My Id monitoring. You just gave some shady website your name, address, phone number, credit card and secret 3 digit card number. You can get Experian ID Protection for $1 for 30 days, then it’s $9.95 a month. I’d suggest signing up for AT LEAST the first month to check your credit report and make sure no one tries to change your address or open a new card using the current cards details you gave away.

I Didn’t Get Taken, But What Can I Do To Help?

Wh can you do to stop these guys from taking in more people? Warn everyone about it!

Found this awesome disclaimer on the fake news site consumer-weekly.com. I think they are under the mistaken impression that somehow they can comply with FTC disclosure requirements by stretching the truth about earning potential and cost as long as they toss a giant disclaimer in tiny light gray text at the bottom of their fake news site. Like I’ve said before, we’re not lawyers at The Electron Plumber, nor do we pretend to be, but if you read our article on Free Trial Scams And The FTC you’ll see why we think this type of disclaimer is useless. Basically it’s up to the advertiser and merchandiser to draw attention to necessary negative option disclaimers, not bury them.

Before you go any further, no, Google is not hiring people to work from home. They are not providing any kits to work from home, especially for the low low price of $1.97 which gets you to cough up your credit card number and later you notice you’ve been whacked for multiple card charges monthly.

Want more details, check out our report on the Google Biz Kit for how this whole thing operates.

Wow, this Google Work At Home Kit scam fake news site came on in force! Take a look at this Alexa ranking chart:

Suddenly in mid September, out of nowhere an unknown site with no home page jumps into the top 500 sites ON THE PLANET and stays in the top 1000 for weeks. Seriously, there is no home page. Try going to news3insider.com and you get a standard Hello World page. They link to deep pages to make you think you are hitting some hidden news story.

This is not normal folks. For a comparison, Time.com is around number 550,Technorati.com is 626, and gizmodo.com is number 722. We’re talking an average of about 300,000 people a DAY hitting these sites.

So how does this happen? Someone spends a CRAPTON of advertising dollars EVERY day with fake stories about Google hiring random internet surfers who give up their credit card, or about how Brittney Spears is endorsing a new pill made of Acai Berry for weight loss in the hopes of convincing good people like you to cough up their credit card for some free trial and make them money when you don’t or can’t cancel the free trial. They show up on Facebook and Myspace and Bebo and Meebo and Greedo and Harpo and any other 1st, 2nd, or 3rd tier website they can buy advertising on.

To get 300,000 hits at even some low amount PPC like $0.05, that’s $15,000 per day spent on advertising. If you get 1% of those clicks to give up their credit card, that’s 3000 people, and at a $40 affiliate payment by the people running these Google Money offers, the advertiser could be earning $120,000 from that $15,000 advertising investment. That’s the rosy day scenario. Replace it with a $.10 PPC cost and only a 0.5% rate for 1500 conversions and you are still making $30,000 a day on a $30,000 advertising investment. Even if it’s half that again, it’s still quite a chunk of change isn’t it?

The site that the News 3 Show links to is another one of those Google Money sites that says you can earn up to $200-$900 a day with Google. This one, securesiteoffers.com at least now has the terms and conditions for this offer on the actual offer page. Not sure if it actually meets the FTC guides for clear disclosure, but at least they are there. It certainly does not meet the FTC guidelines for clear disclosure of material terms and realistic expectations on how much you can earn. Here are their terms are in case you were wondering:

Terms, Disclosures, and Electronic Signature Information. NetPro Marketing’s authorization to provide and bill its services is obtained by way of your electronic signature. Once submitted, this electronic order constitutes an electronic letter of agency. NetPro Marketing’s reliance on your electronic signature, as obtained above, is done pursuant to the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act and the electronic Signatures in Global and National Transactions Act. Both laws specifically preempt State laws that recognize only paper records or handwritten signatures. By submitting this form, I am ordering the Click Money CD™ and trial membership for $2.29 S&H. After the 7 day trial, I will be charged $59.95 a month thereafter if I do not cancel. I also agree to the 14 day and 21 day bonus trials to the Fast Grants Members Site™ and Network Agenda™ for $14.95 a and $9.95 a month thereafter, should I choose not to cancel. I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy | Terms & Conditions. For questions, call 1-888-249-4806, anytime, 24 hours a day.

Of course, it does not seem like a good deal at all in our opinion here at the Electron Plumber, but it’s your money. If you want to spend your hard earned money to sign up for three continuity programs that you have to call three different numbers to individually to cancel where we are unable to find any reference at the Better Business Bureau for any of the sites or companies you will be giving your credit card number to.

Someone sent me a link to tribunenewsfirst.com, which hosts a bunch of Easy Google Profit fake news blogs trying to convince you to input your credit card for only $1.97 and learn Mike Steadman’s secrets to making money at home working part time for Google. Wait, now it’s Ashley Steadman’s secrets. Wait! Now it’s Mike Steadman again, but with a different picture! And it’s always Your Town Tribune News First isn’t it?

Will the Real Mike Steadman Please Stand Up!

This set of sites has a great GeoIPTargeting feature that takes the information your computer sends EVERY time you go to a webpage (your IP address and your browser information) and translates it into a town name, typically a town near yours where your Internet host is located. It’s a marketing trick to make you feel like the site is more trustworthy because it’s close to you. Hell, if college dropout Mike Steadman from the next town over can make $10,500 working from home after losing his job at Burger King (can Burger King really afford to fire anyone?) then why the heck couldn’t I right?

These sites are fully of catchy headlines like:

“$10,000 a Month, isn’t that hard with Google” – Mike”

“College Drop-Out Shares The Secrets To Make Over $10,000/mo”

Is it really true? Can I start making $10,000 a month working from home posting links to Google right away? Of course not, they’re trying to take your hard earned money, money you likely can’t afford to lose on a scam like this.

Are These Easy Google Profit Fake Work At Home News Sites Scams?

We here at the Electron Plumber have been reporting on these fake work at home blog and fake earn money online news sites for a while now and they keep getting more professional and more devious every day. Why do we think these sites are scams in our opinion? Well, they don’t disclose the monthly charges you’ll be facing seven days after you give them your credit card.

Check out our article on The Easy Google Profit Scam for more details about how this whole thing works and what the FTC has to say on the matter.

Go to any of the Easy Google Profit sites or the new Twitter Profit House this one is pushing, sign up for all but giving them your credit card and look around the page. See anything to indicate you’re paying more than $1.97? Now look at the fine print that only appears in a popup window if you click the tiny Terms and Conditions link at the bottom. See it buried in there? They’ll whack your card $99 a month for the Twitter Money System and another $87.23 for the Easy Google Profit Fast Cash one, all without every disclosing that on the order page, which is VERY likely illegal according to FTC guidelines regarding negative option offers, that is ones with recurring monthly charges.

What do you get for $197 a month? Does it matter? These people are deliberately hiding their monthly charges and that you aren’t paying $1.97 but rather $197. I can’t imaging any info they are providing could be worth anywhere near that much if they have to trick you out of it.

I Was Taken By The Easy Google Profit Scam! What Do I Do?

Don’t feel bad! Seems like thousands of people have been taken in by these sort of offers that trick you by not clearly disclosing you are signing up for monthly charges. You were tricked, it happens to the best of us.

Call the number on the website IMMEDIATELY. Finding that number is up to you, they seem to keep changing. Have a witness listen when you call and/or record the conversation if possible. Unfortunately many people have complained that they can never get anyone to talk to when they call. You may want to skip this step and go right to #3.

Call your credit card company and report the card stolen. They never clearly disclosed the charges you were signing up for and are going to start using your card for something you were not informed of. Treat it as if it was stolen.

Monitor your credit accounts! Click here to sign up for Experian ID Protection monitoring. You just gave some shady characters your name, address, phone number, credit card and secret 3 digit card number. They tricked you once, you think they’ll stop at just the $82 they squeezed out of your card before you canceled? Experian is a large company, one of the Big Three credit reporting agencies. They clearly state that the ID Protection it’s truly free for a full 30 days, then only $9.95 a month if you don’t cancel in 30 days. I’d strongly suggest signing up for at least the free month to make sure no one tries to change your address or open a new card using the current cards details you gave away.

I Didn’t Get Taken, But What Can I Do To Help?

What can you do to stop these guys from taking in more people? Warn everyone about it!

I saw another fake work at home for Google ad today on Facebook. This time it’s a fake newspaper called the Watertown Tribute News with an article about Mike Steadman the college dropout pushing the Easy Google Profit and Google Cash Secret Club methods of working from home for Google for “only $1.97 or something”. Click on any link on the news site and you go to a snazzy offer page at yoursearchprofits.com. Can you work a part time job with Google for only $1.97? Is Mike just a nice guy who made good and is now raking in $10,000 a month “posting links for Google”? No he is not, he’s a fictitious snake oil salesman for the modern age.

It’s funny how these affiliate advertisers keep recycling the same names and picture for these work from home do gooders over and over again. Mike Steadman looks VERY similar to Kevin Hoeffer, exactly the same as a matter of fact. And he must be brother to Mary Steadman’s from Mary’s Money Blog. Do they know something we don’t about affiliate marketing or are they just lazy? Is that guys face the key to increasing conversions? Is the name Steadman some magic password to getting customers to pony up their credit cards?

Why are Easy Google Profit and Google Cash Secret Clubs Scams?

In our opinion, these offers are scams becasue nowhere do they meet the FTC’s guidelines for what are called “negative option” offers. A negative option is one where you are offered goods or services at a reduced price and in return are signed up for recurring monthly charges. For more details on the FCC rules check out our article on The Easy Google Profit Scam

That’s right, it’s not $1.97, it’s something like $78.73 a month that you’ll be charged about 7 days after you give them your credit card, many people saying regardless of if you call to cancel. Check out the fine print:

I am ordering the Earn Google Cash™ CD and trial membership for $2.29 S&H, after the 7-day trial I will be charged $39.95 if I do not cancel. I also agree to the 14 day and 21 day bonus trials to Grant Master™ and Network Agenda™ for $7.95 a month and $9.95 a month thereafter, should I choose not to cancel.

Great! Now I’m signed up for three “trials” I didn’t want with monthly charges that I have to call three different numbers (that will never answer) to cancel. And what do you get in return? Very likely some stale information about using Google Adsense (a free program by the way) to earn money on your website by letting Google place text ads on your site.

I keep seeing ads all over the place for a news article on making money at home from a paper called the Los Angeles Tribune. Well, it’s just another day, another unheard of news site touting another part time work at home money making offer. This time it’s losangeles-tribune.com advertising the Easy Google Profit earn money from home kit and stars our old friend Mary Steadman. Good old Mary Steadman must be making money online hand over fist using the Google Biz Kit with all the cash she must be spending on advertising.

You think you’re only paying $1.97 “shipping” to receive the secret to making money part time with a home based job working for Google, then BAM, in 7 days they hit you for $75+ and then $75+ a month every month until you manage to get through on their phone line to cancel the “subscription” you never agreed to. If you do get someone on the phone, they’re likely the one with the real stay at home job taking calls. Or you cancel your account with your bank, which is likely the far easier route to go. How’s earning from home part time with Google feel? Are we making money yet? Wait a sec, someone just took my money!

UPDATE: Looks like Mary Steadman became too famous. Now the same exact news page appears at moneysecretblog.com with the same exact picture, but this time the woman’s name is Louise Biggs. Sometimes it’s there as LouiseBiggs with no space. Plus the name of the site has changed to moneysecretblog.com. Seems once enough sites report on it, they change the names.

How Does The Los Angeles Tribune News Get People?

First they draw you in with the appearance of a real news site. Think back about how you actually got to the site though and you’ll notice that you clicked on an advertisement somewhere. That’s not usually the way newspapers work, advertising a story about making money online now is it?

Click on any of the links or ads on the page and you go to the site securecartcenter.com and the Easy Google Profit offer, a notorious bait and switch negative offer site. Notice how every single link on the page brings you to this offer make money online at home offer.

In light text and in a small font, they put the words “This publication is an article advertisement for Easy Google Profit.”

How these people think that the Feds will never catch up with them is a little shocking, and the sad thing is when they get theirs, you won’t get yours back if you’ve fallen for their scam.

Wait, Isn’t Easy Google Profit Only $1?

No! It’s not only $1. This is why it is a scam in our opinion Just look closer… Here is how they screw all those poor out of work folks into thinking they can work from home online! If you sign up for their “program”, they are going to whack your account for $80 a month until you manage to call their Customer Service number and get it canceled. That’s if you can get through that is. My screen resolution is 1650×1080, which is pretty good sized and I can’t see any of the fine print on the purchase page. If I scroll way past the order entry form, we see this in tiny tiny letters at the bottom:

By submitting this form I am ordering the Hot Business Market Pro trial membership. After the seven day trial I will be charged $81.32 a month thereafter if I do not cancel. I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions. Cancel any time by calling 1-800-235-1364.

And that’s the better one of the two offers they are pushing. The other one has no mention of the monthly charge anywhere on the purchase page, only buried in the Terms and Conditions that you have to click through and find in a tiny popup window.

What do you get for the $1+$80 every month? I don’t know for sure but most people have reported they don’t get anything, and by then their credit card is whacked for $80, leaving them in the lurch.

I Was Taken By The Los Angeles Tribune News! What Do I Do?

Don’t feel bad! Seems like hundreds if not thousands of people have been taken in by these sort of “negative option” offers that trick you by not clearly disclosing you are signing up for monthly charges. You were tricked, it happens to the best of us.

Call the number provided on the website that took you in IMMEDIATELY. Finding that number is up to you, they seem to keep changing. Have a witness listen when you call and/or record the conversation if possible. Unfortunately many people have complained that they can never get anyone to talk to when they call.

Call/write your credit card company and dispute the charges or better yet, report the card lost or stolen. They never clearly disclosed the charges you were signing up for, so you have a strong case here.

Monitor your credit accounts! Click here to sign up for Experian ID Protection monitoring. You just gave some shady characters your name, address, phone number, credit card and secret 3 digit card number. It’s free for a full month, then it’s $9.95 a month if you don’t cancel before the 30 days are up. I’d strongly suggest signing up for the free month and check your credit report to make sure no one has tried to change your address or open a new card using your cards details.

I Didn’t Get Taken, But What Can I Do To Help?

But I Really Wanted to Make Money With Google!

If you really want to learn how to earn money with Google, there is a pretty good training course called Google Snatch Ultimatum (I know, terrible name) that you can buy for $77 straight away with no hidden fees or charges. Note, the “sales pitch” page it pretty cheesy in a get rich quick infomercial kind of way, but if you really want to know how to use Google Adwords and Adsense to make money, it’s a great way to learn the basics. There are lots of videos and tutorials that will step you through exactly how it all works.

UPDATE: Note that this fake news site has just gotten FAR more brazen in their lies. Now it appears as if it’s a fake ABC News site reporting a story about something called Google AdWork, which is just downright false.

Wow, if you thought the fake work at home for Google blog was sneaky, check out MiamiNewsGazette.com. I have to be honest, even I had to look twice at this one and read for a bit just to make sure it was fake. It appears to be an article about what a great business opportunity the Easy Google Profit kit is, how much money people make off it, how they can now work at home part time and make $5000-$9000 a month.

Let’s take a closer look at why it’s scam in my opinion:

First, click on any of the links (and there are a LOT of them) and you are brought to our old friends securecartcenter.com and the Easy Google Profit scam. Every single link on the page, all the tags, all the ads take you to the same place

At least at the top of the page they are honest enough to put the words “This publication is an article advertisement for Easy Google Profit.” It’s in gray and in a smaller font, but at least it’s there.

Lots of talk and “interviews” about how people are making hundreds of dollars a day “posting links to Google”.

Alright, I have to admin that this site is pretty damn well put together. From the ad placement to the little weather report to the random video about the recession, the site REALLY looks like a random local newspaper.

All that being said, they can dress up the pig in fancy clothes (I hate the lipstick expression), but it’s still a pig. Securecartcenter.com and the Easy Google Profit folks are trying to trick and scam you out of your money. The site makes it appear that it will cost you only $1.97 to “work at home for Google”. But check out the fine print that is hidden in the Terms and Conditions and not anywhere near the page where you actually put in your credit card info:

You have also subscribed to a fifteen-day trial to Grant Spring for just $24.87 a month and every month thereafter should you chose not to cancel…

AND

If you choose to sign up for this product and pay the recurring monthly charges using a debit card you hereby provide pre-authorization and consent that blazingkeywords.com may charge $77.82 on a monthly basis. You may stop payment on any pre-authorized charge by notifying blazingkeywords.com at least three business days prior to the scheduled charge date. You agree your pre-authorization and written consent to charge your debit card is given in electronic form by submitting the request for the membership, and that an electronic signature is sufficient to authenticate your authorization to charge the debit card. You further agree that these terms and conditions shall be your copy of your pre-authorization for the debit card.

So buried in some fine print that you’ll never ever read, they’re going to hit your credit card for $100 after 7 days, then again every month until you manage to get hold of them on the phone and cancel.

What do you get for that $100 a month? Does it matter? Obviously if it was worth more than $1.97 they would not need to trick you into “buying” it. Most people we’ve heard from say it’s a collection of old money making eBooks that will take you over 7 days to read through all of and realize are generally worthless.

I Was Taken By The Miami Gazette News!

Have more than one witness listen when you call and/or record the conversation if possible. Unfortunately many people have complained that they can never get anyone to talk to when they call. Finding that number is up to you, they seem to keep changing.

Call/write your credit card company and dispute the charges or better yet, report the card lost or stolen. They never clearly disclosed the charges you were signing up for, so you have a case here.

Monitor your credit accounts! Unlike the Google Biz Kits, Experian clearly states that it’s actually free for a full 30 days, then only $9.95 a month to monitor your credit accounts for fraud and identity theft. I’d suggest signing up for AT LEAST the free month to make sure no one tries to change your address or open a new card using the current cards details you gave away.
