Thought you all might enjoy this giant list of generic blog comments and find it useful.

Someone apparently missed a setting on their WordPress comment spam tool and rather than posting a single comment line, they posted an entire list of about 100 generic comments here at the Electron Plumber. Even better, they didn’t even leave a backlink in the URL field!

Most of the time these are filtered out by the AWESOME captcha powered comment spam plugin I have installed that requires a human to type out a captcha if there is a link in the comment or certain bad words, like viagra, porn, plumbers, electricians, etc. Yeah, I get a lot of home service spam comments because of the site name.

So for the most part, the only spam comments I ever see are the ones that have a human spammer behind them or had a glitch that doesn’t include a link. And the great thing is, anyone posting a real comment that somehow gets caught can still bypass the filter simply by filling in the captcha phrase.

So far the plugin has blocked and rejected 24143 spam comments! Even if it only takes 10 seconds to reject each spam message, that’s 24143 seconds or over 6 hours of my life saved. Love it!

The thought people have here is to auto blast out generic comments to a giant list of WordPress pages in the hope that some are unmoderated and others are moderated by poor souls who can’t recognize comment spam. Include a link and you have instant low value backlinks! Put like anything else, post enough of them and they start to add up eventually.

I don’t go for such shenanigans myself but I do manual blog commenting when I’m in the mood. I like to actually join the discussion when I do, but if you are feeling lazy maybe you can use one of these bad boys below. Or maybe not, most of them have terrible grammar. At least they’re good for a laugh.

Hi, just wanted to tell you, I enjoyed this blog post. It was funny. Keep on posting!

Sometimes they say $1,000, sometimes $10,000, sometimes it’s overnight, sometimes it’s 14 days. In any event, as you probably suspect, it’s going to cost $27 or $47, or $97 or $197 to find out. Yeah, everyone likes to end their prices with 7′s. Does it help? Probably not.

So how does it work? How can you make thousands of dollars overnight?

Simple! First create a website for a scammy affiliate offer or eBook get rich quick offer where you show people how to make money advertising on the internet, the same one that you thought about buying. For most of them, you can make $20 every time someone buys one. Not that hard to find, there are plenty of them out there. Start with Clickbank, but to make real money you’ll probably have to go down the ladder a few rungs and find a shady offer or payment processor.

Next, do a little advertising. Google Adwords probably will ban you for advertising this stuff. But there are plenty of others. Say you spend $100 on advertising. Did you sell at least 4-5 copies and come close to breaking even? Good! Otherwise, try again with another product, another site, and another $100.

Found a winner before you wasted thousands of dollars? Great!

Now, tweak your site or sales page filling it with half truths and emotional pitches that have nothing to do with the eBook or product but about working at home, financial freedom, how a drunk slob like until you went from being $50,000 in debt to owning your own yacht, etc. Spend another $100 dollars on advertising. Did you sell 6 or more? Awesome. You just spent $100 on advertising and made $120 for a net gain of $20. Tweak it some more. Add a bizarre picture with some animation to your advertising to catch peoples attention, throw a bunch of fake comments at the bottom of your site. See if you can get 15 or more sales for $100 in advertising for a 50% profit.

Great! Now spend $20,000 on advertising all over the internet, or say some guys in India or China to create a Facebook virus that “likes” your page 100,000 times. Do it right and you’ll get $30,000 back for a $10,000 profit. Wait, what? Oh yeah, they forget to mention that to make money quickly, you need money to spend.

Now sit back and wait a month until you get paid from the affiliate program or payment processor. Rinse, repeat until it stops working, which will probably be very soon. Once you start advertising in enough quantity to make a decent amount of money the vultures come out and start copying your offer.

And there you go! Now you know why you see so many of these scammy offers and ads all over the internet. It’s big business and so far the FTC can barely keep up with the biggest and worst of them.

Still thinking about spending $29 on that site promising you thousands of dollars a month posting links on Google? At least now you know what you are buying.

So far it’s only been sites that promote Acai Berry junk, as they are likely the most easy cases to prosecute. If they can’t get them on the false testimonials or using major brand “As Seen On” claims, they can always go for false health claims as well.

You can check out the FTC report HERE

Interesting that they are finally targeting the Affiliate Marketers and their sites rather than the companies that allowed these products to be sold fraudulently.

So far no action taken against the tons of fake news sites promoting get rich quick money making schemes, but hopefully if the FTC can win some of these cases based on deceptive advertising rather than deceptive health claims, they can have a precedent to go after the other niches using these fake news sites.

An interesting tidbit from the report is that the 10 defendants named in the suit collectively paid over $10 million in advertising fees. I’ve heard some people say on various black hat forums that these types of deceptive practices can bring in anywhere from 50% to 500% profits! Will sure be interesting to hear how much they made as the case goes on.

I was looking through some keyword analytics for The Electron Plumber this morning and was a bit surprised. Unlike my money sites, I don’t do any real keyword targeting on this site, basically letting Google and the other search engines throw some traffic my way and seeing what sticks.

I did spend $7 once on some Adwords advertising since I had a some free Adsense advertising credits from a hosting account, but that didn’t turn out so well.

I haven’t done any link building or article marketing for this site. Nor have I done any Facebook or Twitter promoting, or forum posting, or email list building or any of the traditional internet marketing techniques everyone tells you to do. Until now I’ve just been blowing off steam on electronplumber.com and letting it ride and seeing what happens while putting my time and effort into my real money sites. If you found this site, good for you! Hope it helps you in some way.

But I am launching some awesome new SEO experiments in the coming weeks that I might try to keyword target, so I figured I’d take a look at exactly what ElectronPlumber.com ranks for by checking my keyword stats

Many of the keywords come from my articles on the Home Income Kit scam fake news site, or people looking for info on Chitika vs Adsense, or people looking for Amazon Affiliate site examples, or a bunch looking for info on single use credit cards, and various other disparate keywords.

About half way down the list these start showing up as regular search engine queries that bring visitors to this site:

easy scams

easiest scams

profitable scams

easy way to scam people

And more longer tail keywords like this the further down the list you go.

Which means that some people wake up every morning and think to themselves “Hmmmm, I think I’ll spend the day trying to scam anyone I can catch!”

Keep your eyes open out there!

A couple of months ago we reported on a sudden huge advertising blitz by penny auction site Swipebids.com, which later changed it’s name to Swipeauctions.com. It wasn’t the companies themselves, but their affiliate offer was so lucrative that everyone and their brother started filling the internet with advertising.

You can read my original report on Swipeauctions.com here. Now all these penny auction and adventure shopping sites have one thing in common in my opinion, they’re all thinly veiled gambling. I have nothing against gambling, but let’s just call it what it is. You are paying for a chance to buy an item at greatly reduced cost.

Swipeauctions/Swipebids went a couple steps beyond though. They hid the $159 initial charge for bid packs in fine print that most users never saw. They only gave refunds if you didn’t win anything, but encouraged people to bid on $10 gift cards that you could only “win” one of. Most people paid $159 and got around $10 worth of stuff in return.

There are many decent penny auction sites out there For example at Bidcactus you can start with $20 worth of bids, and unused bids are fully refundable, so you can try it for a low cost. At Bidrivals, the cost of your bids can be put towards buying the item at regular price if you don’t win. And the regular prices are regular prices, if you didn’t win the Wii bundle, you could buy it for $199, the same exact price as Bestbuy.com. If you were buying a Wii anyway, why not shoot for it?

But Swipeauctions had none of these, and in my opinion tried to hide the fact that they were going to charge people $159 the instant they put in their credit card. Check out the discussion in the comments on the original Swipeauctions report here.

Not shocking to find out now that Swipeauctions has closed their doors. Apparently late last year their payment processor closed their account, likely due to disputed charges. Rather than try to find a new processor or clean up their act, they decided to close their doors.

Were they able to move millions of dollars offshore before they closed down? Are they in legal hot water? We can’t say for sure. But one thing we do know for certain. If you bought bid from Swipeauctions and never used them, your money appears to be gone for good. They are apparently only refunding people their initial $159 fee if they are still within the 90 day window where they said they would offer refunds if you didn’t win anything. If you are outside the 90 days or you bought bids, good luck.

Vinay!?! You should be ashamed of yourself!

It appears that at least one finalist in the Shoemoney Affiliate Summit West contest is cheating and paying for votes. Shocking that in 2011 a random Affiliate Marketer would not have issues with a little vote rigging huh? <—- Insert sarcasm here.

I took a look at the results of the 2009 ASW contest to see the winning entry and found something odd in the voting results. The second place finisher had 10x the votes of the 3rd place guy. And the first place finisher had 20x the votes of 3rd place and down.

Now I’m not a United Nations approved poll watcher, but twenty times the votes?

My BS detector runs a little hot, as you can see from the rest of this site. Look at last years Shoemoney ASW contest entries and see for yourself. To me the winner certainly didn’t look 20x better than the rest of the field. Maybe he has a ton of friends, and good for him. I asked my friends and followers to vote for me too. However, I have no way of verifying a year old vote and I don’t want to question it.

HOWEVER, for this year, I did a little snooping around while the trails would still be warm. If I were to stuff the Shoemoney ballet box (which I would never do, seriously, look at the rest of this site for my Ethical Marketing record), how would I do it?

It’s a Polldaddy.com poll, which have becoming increasingly bullet proof to automated stuffing the past few years since they were acquired by Automattic Back in 2009 anyone with a tiny bit of scripting could stuff the heck out of a poll by erasing cookies and the like. Now they have it locked down pretty well.

I’ve been a fan of the Amazon Mechanical Turk croudsourcing marketplace for years and that seems the ideal way to cheat and pay for quick votes for low cost. A quick search on the Turk yielded the following HIT:

Clicking on the bit.ly link in the HIT brings you here:

My guess based on past MTurk campaigns at the $0.05 level is that he’ll get around 50-150 votes a day and the vast majority of them will be from IP’s in China, India and the Philippines.

Note that I’m posting this on January 3rd, the day before the results have been released. I have no reason to think Vinay would win this contest over the other 9 entries as the results are hidden from everyone but the Shoemoney.com team. In fact, looking at Vinay’s entry and Alexa.com ranking for amount of traffic he generates, I wouldn’t have even put him in the top three. Now though, he’ll probably get the most votes.

If I had brought this up after the results were released, people might think I was just bitter and cry “Photoshop! Faked!”

So I bring it up now. The affiliate marketing landscape is chock full of cheats, liars, and scam artists, so much so that the FTC can barely keep up. Will the Shoemoney.com team turn a blind eye or crack down on such blatant vote stuffing?

Stay tuned…

UPDATE: The official answer is from the shoemoney.com team is… any method of gaining votes is allowed. It’s their contest, their rules. And Vinay has been awarded the winner of the contest. Anyone looking to hack a Polldaddy.com poll, the Mechanical Turk is your answer.

What do you think? Comment below.

The rules are fairly simple. Sometimes you actually need to stop and think, a fast talking sales pitch can easily part you or a loved one from their hard earned money. Before you give out that credit card number, go over these three rules.

Rule #1: Never give your credit card number out without research

More and more shady businesses are trying to trick you into entering your credit card number online. The hide the terms and conditions and start charging you every month or put the actual charges in small print off to the side.

As a general rule, any site in the top 500 sites on the web is going to be worth doing business with. No fly by night site trying to steal your money is going to be able to break the top 500. A payment processor in the top 500 isn’t going to stay in business scamming people out of their money. If anyone knows a blatent exception to this rule, I’d like to see it. Sure, there will always be billing issues and disputes with any company, but the large ones try hard to resolve them.

Some payment processors and larger sites (like Clickbank and eBay for example) can get complaints about the items that people sell on their marketplace. That e-book from Bob Snakeoil might be a complete waste of money, but you will have always have some recourse through the payment processor.

How do you check a site rank? Go to Alexa.com and copy and paste the URL for the site you are looking at from your browser. Don’t try to type it in, since you might be a victim of Rule #2 below.

Or grab the Alexa Sparky toolbar, which will tell you the rank of every site while you are surfing.

Next, use Google to see what other people say about that business.

Rule #2: Check if the site is real

A classic scam is to send a fake email that looks just like something you would get from a legitimate place you do business with. Banks, credit card companies, Paypal and the like should NEVER ask you for account information through email. The message will contain a link for you to click on, which takes you to something like paypal.secuur.ru. Yeah, see, that’s not Paypal.

Look carefully at the URL. Subdomains are ok (secure.paypal.com), but the thing right in front of the .com should be the site you want, not chase.bank.chaserobber1123,com.

Rule #3: Never give out payment information over the phone

Unless you made the call and know exactly who you are talking to, don’t ever give a caller any payment information. Even if it sounds like the best business opportunity in the WORLD, and it’s a LIMITED TIME OFFER OF A LIFETIME don’t be fooled! Ask for written information to be sent to you that explains all the charges. If they try to send you to a website to pay, refer to RULE #1 above.

Be careful out there!

We’ve been assaulted lately for ads for “penny auctions” from all sides. Seems like a new penny auction site is popping up every five minutes and some of them are being *VERY* heavily advertised on every website imaginable.

Like the Home Income kits and Acai Berry free trial offers, penny auctions are the latest high paying affiliate craze. While there do seem to be some legit penny auction sites, there seem to be just as many fishy sites appearing all over the place.

Put aside for a minute that all “penny auction” sites are in my opinion basically thinly veiled gambling. They’ve gotten away with it so far, but the recent explosion in the numbers of these sites is going to cause the FTC to sit up and take notice.

Gambling issue notwithstanding, some of these penny auction sites seem better than others. Swoopo for example, is one of the original entertainment auction sites, and provide an option to buy the item you’ve bid on at retail price MINUS the cost of any bids you made. So if you spend $50 on bids at Swoopo for an iPod, then don’t win it, you can still buy it for $150 ($200 cost minus your losing bids). If you’re planning on buying the item anyway, the worst you can really do on Swoopo is pay full retail price for the item, even if you lose. Swipebids makes no offer that I could find as of this writing to put all your losing bid costs towards the price of the item. Maybe they’ll do so in the future.

Another auction site, CactusBids, has gone so far as to hire Earnst & Young auditors to audit their auctions to ensure they are fair. That and they have an A rating with the BBB.

How does Swipeauctions stand up? Let’s take a look. Remember, this is all our opinion, hard facts about Swipeauctions are hard to come by, but let’s take a look at the details of the site and how it’s advertised and you can come to your own conclusions.

SwipeAuctions is a Legitimate Business

By all business accounts, SwipeAuctions is legit. They are a registered business in Alberta, Canada and currently have a B- rating with the local BBB office there. There have been complaints, but every usiness gets complaints. According to the BBB they appear to resolve the vast majority of those complaints. So good news there.

So Swipebids is not a scam from a business perspective, but is it a good value? Read on.

SwipeAuctions In The News? Not Really.

None of these quotes are about Swipebids

The registration page for SwipeAuctions has a bunch of logos for legitimate news sites plastered all over it. Yet none of them have ever reported favorably on Swipeauctions that we are aware of. In fact, all the news logo’s say something like “Penny Auctions in the news” in fine fine print near them, and at the very bottom of the page, well below where anyone would ever scroll down to, there is this little gem: “Swipeauctions is not associated with any of the logos used on the website, however penny auctions have been featured on all of these newscasts.”

Videos on their registration page have nothing to do with Swipeauctions

The video has nothing to do with Swipebids

There are a couple of images and videos on the page that are intended to get you to think there are news stories about Swipeauctions and saving on overstock or closeout items in the news. Look closer for the tiny disclaimers under the video’s stating that they are generic videos for auctions and they have nothing to do with them? Huh? Why put them there? Oh, that’s right, maybe to make the average consumer think they are getting some sort of special deal when in fact you’re going to be hit up for $159. That’s right, $159.

Is Swipeauctions tricking people into a $159 charge?

None of the things I pointed out are really outside the norm for Internet advertising. Misleading sure, but not illegal I don’t think. It certainly doesn’t make me personally want to buy their products.

However, at the time of this writing, their registration page makes you think you are giving them your credit card in the same way eBay asks for your credit card, to validate your account and there is no information about being charged near the button to register.

WOAH! Stop right there! Look at the fine print to the left of the credit card box. Now look again. Yes, it doesn’t explicitly say anywhere that you are paying them $159, but that’s exactly what they’re going to charge your credit card. They put some notes off to the side above some big pictures saying things like “Only $159 gives you access to the following:” and the like. Will an average consumer think they are buying $159 worth of bids with their credit card number?

In my opinion this does NOT meet the FTC requirements for clear disclosure of charges. Will the average consumer know what they are getting into and willingly fork over $159? Probably not. What happens is that most people decide it was their own fault and try to “win” back their money by bidding on items, thereby basically giving Swipeauctions all the ammo their need if they ever try to dispute the charges.

UPDATE: As of August 23nd, it appears that they have placed some small black text right under the “Start Bidding” button that says “By clicking below you will be charged $159 and receive 300 bids.” that was not there before. So kudos to Swipeauctions for that at least.

UPDATE #2: As of September 19th, 2010, Swipebids has changed its name to SwipeAuctions AND no longer has ANY indication you will be charged $159 on the area where you put in your credit card info.

Crap! I feel like I was suckered by Swipeauctions! What do I do now?

The Terms you’ll find buried on the Swipeauctions site say that they offer a “money back guarantee”, but only if you actively participate in auctions, use all the bids that you didn’t know you were even buying for $159, and don’t actually win ANYTHING. Nothing at all. Many people get sucked in and end up winning a $10 Walmart card or better yet they “win” more bids and thus don’t qualify for the so called money back deal.

If you signed up knowing you were paying $159 and realize now that you’re unlikely to save enough on items to justify you $159 investment, make sure you do not bid on anything small ticket items you are likely to win but would never be worth the $159 you paid (the $10 or $25 gift cards, or ANY Bid packs) use up all your 300 bids on items that you would save more than $160 on and try to get a legitimate refund after you have used them all up.

In our opinion, SwipeAuctions does NOT meet the FTC mandate for clear disclosure of charges. If you registered without knowing they were going to charge your credit card you should follow the steps below. Here is what we recommend:

Don’t feel bad! Seems like hundreds if not thousands of people have been taken in by these sort of landing pages that trick you by not clearly disclosing that your credit card number is actually going to be charged. It happens to the best of us.

Swipeauctions may not have left out the note about actually getting charged on purpose, but if you didn’t think you would be charged when you signed up because of inadequate disclosure, call them! Call Swipeauctions and explain that you signed up not knowing your credit card would be charged and want a refund. If they won’t, explain that your next steps include disputing the charge with your credit card company and complaints to the BBB and the FTC. Be firm and they might budge.

If #2 fails above call/write your credit card company, dispute the charges and change your card number. Since this Swipeauctions site at the time this article was written did not meet the FTC requirements for clear disclosure in our opinion for the charges you received, consider the charge to be suspect.

Start ID theft monitoring right away! Click here to sign up for Experian Protect My Id monitoring. We can’t be sure of Swipeauctions data protection practices at all without further auditing information. I’d suggest signing up for the free month to check your credit report and make sure no one tries to change your address or open a new card using the current cards details you gave away.

Warn your friends not to get involved! Click Here to Share this on Facebook! Hit “Post to Profile” to warn your friends, or Click Here to ReTweet this article.

Report Swipeauctions to the BBB by clicking here. It does appear that Swipeauctions does attempt to resolve billing dispute issues raised with the BBB. Complain to them and you might see your issue resolved if you had issues before.

Report Swipebids to the FTC by clicking here

Note that all of the above was on the Swipeauctions site when this article was written, and we’re not lawyers or Feds, so this is all our opinion. Look at the facts and decide for yourself. If Swipeauctions cleans up their act on any of the areas above, please let us know and we’ll be happy to provide an update.

Months after the famous FTC deadline for disclosure on affiliate web sites, the online money making scammers are back at it, this time more brazen than ever. Now we have DailyNews7.com pushing something called the Home Income System, where for only $2.97 you too can become part of the American dream and work from home in your spare time “posting links online”.

Interesting use of the geo-targeting there, just saying they are from your state rather than drilling all the way down to the town where your internet service provider is located.

Since it’s almost certain they are breaking the law in the US, these guys seem to have thrown all caution to the wind and just gone for it. The FTC has clearly set forth the rules for online disclosure and factual proof of earnings potential the AVERAGE user would have with this system, as well as disclosure of all costs associated with the system.

DailyNews7.com does none of these things. No where does it say it’s an advertisement. It has a quote from Larry King that he most certainly never made about the “Home Income System”. It has a Photoshopped cover of Newsweek as well. It even has a fake ad for Dish Network that brings you to the offer page for the Home Income Kit if you click on it.

Our old friend Kevin Hoeffer’s sister Mary is apparently been dragged into it too, with a random photo of a check for $5000 attributed to her.

Why do we think this is a scam in our opinion? Besides the unsubstantiated income claims that are against the latest FTC rules, no where on the DailyNews7 sides does it say anything about the true cost of the “Home Income System”.

All it says is “First you will need to apply for a work from home kit. There is a small charge of $2.97 for shipping and handling, Judy explained that “this charge is made to cover shipping costs but also to separate the people that are serious about working from home.”

Which is complete bunk. The real reason is in the hopes you won’t notice the fine print. What is the fine print? Click on through any of the links and you land on internetprofitsuccesssystem.com, where you can fill out your name and address and phone number (which I would NOT suggest doing) and read the small text to find:

By placing my order I agree to the Terms of Offer, which explain this order includes the above for just $2.97 shipping and handling. If you enjoy your trial, just pay a monthly membership fee of $79.86. You may cancel anytime by calling: (877) 834-4449.

Yeah, that’s right, they are going to whack your credit card for $79.86. There is no checkbox or opt-in for this, which is also against the FTC rules.

Click on the actual Terms and Conditions link and you find this:

which is that you, the buyer, are not entitled to a refund that may or may not have been charged to you for delivery of said product, or services, or subscription. Furthermore, any free trials that may or may not be offered with this product are only free during the said allotted time of the free trial period, the free trial period is 3-days starting on the date signed up. If you have not cancelled the free bonus within the free trial period (if offered on product purchasing), you are agreeing to purchase the bonus material and/or service at a monthly reoccurring cost of up to $79.86 (seventy nine dollars and eighty six cents USD. This can be cancelled by contacting BlogMaster Profits customer service at (877) 834-4449 and stating your desire to cancel said bonus material. However, in order to not be charged any future reoccurring cost, please give ample time (2 business days) to be cancelled out of any reoccurring billing system before the next scheduled charge to your account (this does not apply during any trial period). Not canceling trial programs constitutes authorization, by you, the buyer, for any charges (as outlined) for the associated bonus service until your request to cancel has been received by our customer service staff. By not canceling the bonus program during the trial period or prior to two days before a scheduled billing cycle, you agree that any reoccurring charges billed to you will be non-refundable. You also agree that by purchasing this product, you will be given access to digital material outlined in the members area. No physical product will be sent to your home or business address.

That’s right, no refunds. And you have to cancel your three day trial within two days to be eligible to stop the billing.

Continue on through the site and terms and you will find NOTHING about the company’s physical address or email, just a phone number that was closed when we attempted to call it.

Now we haven’t read any specific complaints about internetprofitsuccesssystem.com, but it sure as hell looks like all the other Internet money scams out there that trick you into coughing up your credit card thinking you are only paying shipping and handling.

How To Cancel The Home Income Kit?

Well, they do provide a phone number you can call. HOWEVER, a number of people have suggested that calling their number is not the right thing to do.

If you call to cancel, they now have a record of you contacting them and if you later try to dispute the charge with your credit card company, they can show the record of your call to your credit card company as proof of the transaction. Only go this route if you can’t afford to cancel the card in question or if it is a debit card which is much harder to dispute. You’ve been internet mugged here, don’t take it lying down. It is our opinion based on the FTC guidelines that these people are breaking the law, plain and simple. You wouldn’t call a mugger to ask for your money back, you would go to the authorities.

Here is what we recommend:

Don’t feel bad! Seems like hundreds if not thousands of people have been taken in by these sort of “negative option” offers that trick you by not clearly disclosing you are signing up for monthly charges. You were tricked, it happens to the best of us.

Call/write your credit card company, dispute the charges and report the card stolen. Since this site does not meet the FTC requirements for clear disclosure for the charges you received, consider your card stolen. This will make sure they can’t charge you any more and that they can’t sell your credit card number to anyone else. If they tricked you once already, what makes you think they won’t try to squeeze every penny out of you they can?

Start ID theft monitoring right away! Click here to sign up for Experian Protect My Id monitoring. You just gave some shady website your name, address, phone number, credit card and secret 3 digit card number. You can get Experian ID Protection for $1 for 30 days, then it’s $9.95 a month. I’d suggest signing up for AT LEAST the first month to check your credit report and make sure no one tries to change your address or open a new card using the current cards details you gave away.

Wow! I want a free fan of large bills too!

If you want the summary, yes, Travis did actually make cash. But he did it by stealing from you. And while you can work from home posting Google advertisements on the internet, you will get nothing but a giant headache and major screwing (and not the good kind) if you give these people your credit card.

It is our opinion that the people running the Travis Made Cash site and the people behind the Google Profits Kit are breaking the law pushing these part time online job kits that do nothing other than drain your credit cards. I really had hoped that something would change on December 1st. The FTC announced near the end of the summer that on December 1st, 2009, they would implement new guidelines clarifying the rules about what types of sites, advertising and affiliate offers were considered legal and how disclosures needed to be handled.

Well, looks like it was a complete and utterly empty gesture from the FTC, as these Google Profits kit type scams continue to invade every corner of the internet.

If this is your first time running into one of these fake news sites or fake blog sites promoting the, check out our article on the original Easy Google Profit scam that started this whole thing.

How does the Google Profit Kit work? Here, I’ll lay it out:

Some unsavory character, lets call him Phil for lack of a better term, takes an old electronic book about how you can make money online by posting Google Adsense ads (which is a FREE program from Google), then makes a crappy website out of it. He calls it Google Profits Kit.

Phil then sets up a flashy looking website, promising anyone who orders the Google Kit will make anywhere from $200 to $943 a day by doing nothing, and you can too for only $1.95! Note that if you want to make $944 a day using the magic of the Google Profit Kit, you’re apparently out of luck.

What you don’t notice is that hidden in the Terms and Conditions in the fine print is that you’ll get charged $84.73 every month, and $43.23 and $23.47 for some other stuff you had no idea you were signing up for. Yes, this is 100% illegal, but the FTC is too busy and underfunded to go after someone running this scam from the Caymen islands. And if they do get caught, the worst that happens is they have to give the money back, as they can claim that since it is in the Terms they technically aren’t complete criminals.

Phil then posts his site as an “offer” on an affiliate network site, saying he’ll pay anyone $40 for person who you can trick into signing up for his Google money making scam.

Travis, whose name isn’t really Travis but it works here, sets up a fake blog or fake newspaper and pays for advertising. He’ll probably get 1 out out 100 people to fall for his fake site, click through and cough up their credit card to discover how they too can instantly solve all their financial problems for only $1.95. If he pays $0.20 a click for the ads, and he hits on 1 out of 100, and he gets $40 for the poor soul who gave these folks their credit card, he just made $20. Now pay for $2000 worth of advertising and make $2000.

You get caught in this, and begin a nightmare of hidden charges and busy Customer Service numbers.

It’s the internet equivalent of the Three Card Monty, Phil is the dealer, Travis is the shill, and you my intrepid friend are the mark.

The sad thing is that THIS SCAM WORKS. People have been raking in the dough hand over fist using this scam, and it’s been going on for well over two years now. yet the FTC and other authorities seems powerless to stop it.

Oh, in case you were wondering, check out the hidden Terms and Conditions from the Google Kit that Travis links to at www.securesiteoffers.com. Note by the time you read this, it will likely have changed as these guys like to keep moving their sites every couple of days/weeks to keep ahead of the FTC.

Yeah. That’s right. $129.95, PLUS $39.95, PLUS $29.95. Plus god knows what else you are going to find on your credit card.

How To Cancel The Google Profits Kit?
