Oh Shit, I just signed up for this today. I could say a few other words but will be polite. I haven't tested their honesty yet. I signed up for the Elite (US$377)with them stating no first year hosting fee. What questions should I ask them? I am in Australia

Here is the message that was sent directly to my email. I presume they're referring to my comment from 7th March 2010 (niche site for US$10) ...
Their email address: Easy Cash Sites [esozm@travelthebay.com]

A fully built, tested, profitable site for only 10 measly bucks??

She must have lost her mind if you ask me because there is simply too much there for too little.
Go over there right now before she comes to her senses!

As I said in my previous post, it would increase confidence in OHN if they publicly answered some of these complaints. My business & theirs depend on their good (or bad) reputation. It would also help to know from them, that if things don't go as promised then they will either 1. Help you for no further charge & genuine concern for your circumstances. 2. No further high-pressure sales tactics. 3. No dismissive manipulation when people legitimately want to make sure they're not going to lose their investment (i.e. complain that potential investors are waisting their time, when all the customer wants is to be sure it's on the level). 4. In your case Fee, it would help OHN's future prospects if they would admit that all the packages you bought haven't worked & they give you a refund of your $6000.

Keep us informed Fee.

Feel free to name the site Fee. I don't like people to post physical addresses since there are some VERY angry people out there that
might take matters into their own hands and I don't want to be responsible for that!

Thanx Matt for your comments. Just to let you all know , I'm fairly sure OHN is following this thread. I have received feedback via my email (spam?) from Phoenix (this is where they're supposedly based). What worries me is they have used my correct name. Am i allowed to name the site and address i received it from in this thread?

Fee,

I don't have that great a knowledge of promoting my site on the web. Like I said I've only made $3.83 in commissions (from sales to family) in 7 weeks from purchasing the OHN site. I do know that if you get yourself a google blog and update it with fresh material regularly it can increase your chances of being found by someone doing a search for your product. If you are linked to Amazon through your OHN site, sign into your associates page on Amazon & look at the tools they offer. You can link banners & widgets directly to your google blog - they have an arangement. If you are on Facebook, or some other Social Networking site you can put your website on your personal profile which I have done. I've also started a fan page with a pithy name (well, I think it is), and hopefully that will grow. Some people love becoming fans of funny groups, and again, you can promote your website, that's free but you can also advertise your fan page to get fans faster for a fee. If you know someone with some IT know-how, ask for their help. It's much easier in person than over the phone or via email.

I don't really feel at liberty to link you to my blog in this forum. I'm sure OHN is aware of this thread so I want to give them a go before I start identifying myself. It would up their credibility if they would answer some of the complaints made here, and stop pressuring people into handing over money they can't afford, for something they are new at - especially if they would refund your money Fee. Now that would give me more confidence to promote OHN.

If you've been with them for more than 90 days, and made no money, with all the advertising you've been promised and paid for by them then you need to attempt to have them honour their guarantee even if you find it hard. Take a deep breath & assert youself - "this is what I was promised, this is what I have made, this is what I want you to do about it", without being abusive. And be persistant - call them for as long as it takes. Don't take any grief you may be given personally - this is your money invested, your family - you have the moral high ground. Don't let them blame you or make you feel guilty or inadequate. There's no shame in being new to things - we all were when it comes to the internet (I still am in a lot of ways). You start somewhere and learn as you go - and you will learn from this.

If you can print all the information you put in your last post, and have your credit card statement, take it to a lawyer if you can - maybe they can advocate for you with a knowledge of applicable consumer laws. I understand that you probably don't have a lot of financial resources to pay for lawyers and such. There are law firms in Australia who have a no win, no fee policy. Don't know about NZ. Maybe you need to contact NZ's government agency that deals with consumer complaints and rights.

Just for reference, here is OHN's money back guarantee. I found the link right down the bottom of the "Help" page of my Back Office. If you go to a lawyer, take this with you as well.

"All you have to do is advertise as much or as little as you want each month and Online Hosting Network™ guarantees that you will start making money in your first 90-days or less, or you can call our office after your 90th day and we’ll refund your entire set up fee. (Printed proof of advertising is required). "

I've stopped pushing OHN referrals until I see some real results from my website. If I were you, I wouldn't give them anymore money. If you decide not to persist with your site, try to have them honour their guarantee. Get help in person if you can.

Also, if you want to learn about search engines, internet jargon and all that, wikipedia is often enlightening. If you delve into an online business in the future - learn my my mistakes, from others mistakes in this forum & yours & do some research. There's no reason why you couldn't have a productive online business - just need to do some study beforehand - patience, persistence, elbow-grease & research is key. I wish you well!

There's been some excellent feedback from all this. "aHugeList" - will be following up on your suggestion of transferring site to another registrar (not that I know anything about it), "Matt" - you were extremely lucky, in that you have vast knowledge on how to promote your sites, I didn't even know what search engines were ... really embarrasing myself now! and Shaun, it was your article that prompted me to start taking action.
I will try and get my money back, but ... what money can i claim for? I am too scared to ring OHN and ask what the money back guarantee covers, I'm presuming its only for the initial package. Here is a list of what I paid for (all US$):
*Advertising package $1425 (10,000 email blast, search engine blast, 2500 clicks - 110 used up, search bar on main site, electronics site - submitted to 1000 search engines)
*Training package $2,495 (Training centre, SEO tools, 30000 email blasts, search engine blast, 10000 clicks - 544 used up, tracking views, live training 12 months - 2 sessions used up)
*Elite Referral Program $377 (search engine blast, 6 websites each submitted to 1000 search engines)
Anyone know the legalities?
Cheers all

I signed up in mid-January to OHN from a Facebook ad, for the standard package - $288USD with $50 given to me as "advance commission" for referrals to OHN. I live in Australia. I'm a house-husband with a casual job, and just wanted to utilize my time around my kids activities to make some extra and be a better provider. We have a bit of debt for various reasons. My associates are Amazon.com & Yahoo.com. I've created four packages with links relating mostly to Mountain Bikes & accessories. In 7 weeks I've had 563 hits - probably 1/3 of those are mine when I check my pages & hits etc.

I have three other pages given to me by OHN. I've been dropping leaflets, registered my website on as many search engines as I can. I started a blog with associate links to Amazon & my website. I started a Facebook Fanpage with links to my website. I try to update those as often as I can. In 7 weeks I've made exactly $3.83 in commissions from Amazon. Of course that big fat cheque has not come yet, but I'm waiting with bated breath :-) The six sales which have earned me the $3.83 I have since discovered were made by my mum & dad & one of my brothers - they like to encourage me like that.

I've been pushing my "makemoney. ............" site but not getting many hits, and earned no commissions from OHN. I'm going to persist to the 90 money back guarantee, and try to build some momentem, but at this stage I'm thinking it was an unwise small investment. I don't know if it is meant to be a "scam" but the selling is aggressive, and it hasn't yeilded the results I was led to believe I would acheive. You can't expect to build a large income overnight, but so far it's a bit disappointing. The various amounts people say they have been asked for or paid to sign up to OHN seem surprising and excessive compared to what I have paid, but I haven't been getting the intensive coaching some say they have been paying for. Perhaps the smaller fry are overlooked in that department, though I can ask them for help via email or phone.

I'll follow this thread with interest, and let you know how I go. Stay positive - it's the people in your life that really matter, so if you've signed up and been disappointed don't let it suck the meaning from your life.

We have a bit of debt for various reasons. My associates are Amazon.com & Yahoo.com. I’ve created four packages with links relating mostly to Mountain Bikes & accessories. In 7 weeks I’ve had 563 hits – probably 1/3 of those are mine when I check my pages & hits etc.

I have three other pages given to me by OHN. I’ve been dropping leaflets, registered my website on as many search engines as I can. I started a blog with associate links to Amazon & my website. I started a Facebook Fanpage with links to my website. I try to update those as often as I can. In 7 weeks I’ve made exactly $3.83 in commissions from Amazon. Of course that big fat cheque has not come yet, but I’m waiting with bated breath The six sales which have earned me the $3.83 I have since discovered were made by my mum & dad & one of my brothers – they like to encourage me like that.

I’ve been pushing my “makemoney. …………” site but not getting many hits, and earned no commissions from OHN. I’m going to persist to the 90 money back guarantee, and try to build some momentem, but at this stage I’m thinking it was an unwise small investment. I don’t know if it is meant to be a “scam” but the selling is aggressive, and it hasn’t yeilded the results I was led to believe I would acheive. You can’t expect to build a large income overnight, but so far it’s a bit disappointing. The various amounts people say they have been asked for or paid to sign up to OHN seem surprising and excessive compared to what I have paid, but I haven’t been getting the intensive coaching some say they have been paying for. Perhaps the smaller fry are overlooked in that department, though I can ask them for help via email or phone.

I’ll follow this thread with interest, and let you know how I go. Stay positive – it’s the people in your life that really matter, so if you’ve signed up and been disappointed don’t let it suck the meaning from your life.

Fee,

I have no idea why you continued to pay. Read my Article/Experience with OnlinehostingNetwork, below your March 7th comment.

My advise to you. I remember they told me on the phone that they had 90 day or something money back guarantee, (GET YOUR MONEY ASAP), if they really insist on doing that US $10 thing first. I suggest do it, It wouldn't hurt your $6000 that you wasted. But before doing that try to get the money. AND if they refuse even after that, say that you'll take legal action against OHN, and if they ask under what circumstances? say violating there policies (90 day money back guarantee and ripping your money off), In addition mention that your brother is a lawyer, ( this is a lie, unless your brother is a lawyer) but it will help you get your money. And also mention that you will complain their site (www.onlinehostingnetwork.com) to local authorities (police) etc.

Fee I moved to Australia from NZ, and I would hate to see a kiwi get ripped.

Good luck to you
